The Guardian, a UK-based newspaper, reported in May that the Nepalese government granted climbing permits to 479 people for Everest this year.
Ang Norbu, the President of the Nepal National Mountain Guides Association, stated in an interview with the newspaper that inexperienced climbers were increasingly coming to the region each year, and individuals with no experience were attempting to climb to the summit.
Climbing Everest without a permit from the Nepalese government is not allowed. The permit, which can be obtained by paying $15,000, is one of the significant sources of income for the Asian country.
Experts and experienced climbers note that in recent years, Everest has been viewed as a tourism route, and thrill-seeking individuals pay guides up to $60,000 to reach the summit.
